Stock markets in the US and Europe suffered their worst one-day falls since March. The S&P 500 slumped② 5.9 per cent in New York, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 5.3 per cent.

美股和欧股遭遇3月以来最大单日跌幅。纽交所标普500指数下跌5.9%，以科技股为主的纳斯达克综合指数下跌5.3%。

The Fed said earlier that the US faced a long path to recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and that it would keep interest rates close to zero until at least the end of 2022. Concerns over another wave of infections, particularly in the US, have also harmed sentiment. States in the west and south, which loosened their lockdowns weeks ago, are seeing a sudden jump③ in new cases. (The Financial Times)
