The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Health and Prevention issued the official registration of a Chinese inactivated COVID-19 vaccine last Wednesday, citing preliminary data showing that it was 86% effective against COVID-19 infection. The Emirates said it had reviewed an interim analysis①of data of the phase III trials by Sinopharm CNBG that also showed the vaccine was 100% effective in preventing moderate and severe cases of the disease. The company is also conducting trials in Bahrain, Jordan, Peru, Argentina and elsewhere. Meanwhile, Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine passed a critical milestone last Thursday when a panel② of experts formally recommended that the FDA authorize the vaccine. The agency approved the vaccine for emergency use in the US last Saturday. (The New York Times)

阿拉伯联合酋长国（下称“阿联酋”）卫生和预防部宣布，正式在该国注册中国研制的一款新冠灭活疫苗，并援引初步数据，称该疫苗有效率达86%。阿联酋方面表示，他们审查了国药集团中国生物对III期临床试验的期中分析。这项分析还认为，该疫苗对预防中度和重度病例有效性为100%。国药集团正在巴林、约旦、秘鲁、阿根廷等地开展临床试验。与此同时，12月10日，专家小组正式建议美国食品和药物管理局（下称“FDA”）批准辉瑞疫苗，这是该疫苗完成的重大里程碑。12月12日，FDA批准该疫苗在美国应急使用。
